New Kind Of Future - Desktop

In a presentation in Dublin, Ireland in March 2010, Google sales chief Jim Haley stated that desktops would be irrelevant in three years (SiliconRepublic.com). Smartphones, notebooks, and the amount of information available online will converge to create a different kind of future than what we’ve known, according to Haley. Do you agree? Why or why not? What impact would that have on the types of hardware and software that are the most in demand? I disagree with the new kind of future. The world have been using desktops, smartphones and notebooks for years. You have certain type of businesses that rely on these different types of software an hardware on a day to day bases. Businesses have paid ex amount of dollars to have these hardware and software put into their business along with someone creating new programs to work with the software and/or hardware. I feel this would not be a good idea until all have been worked on to see how it would benefit the world before just throwing it out there. Businesses and Schools are not going to want to take this change for the new kind of future until they all know it works and it will benefit them in the long run. Trying something new like this can be good but also be crucial to any business if not functioning well.

A) What are the advantages and disadvantages of social networking -

Advantages
  • learning about other businesses and/or organization that you may be applying for a position to work.
  • Communication with old friends and family members you have not seen in a long time or just socializing with friends
  • You can also get coupons for different businesses that may be advertising a new line of clothing.
Disadvantages

  • Social bullying
  • Sex Offenders
  • Everyone knowing your every move and knowing where you are by your post
Also there are alot of businesses using social networking with adveristing their company and any position that may be available. I feel social networking will evolve far more than we think in the next two or threee years as everyone and all businesses post blogs in today's world.
I'm glad I'm enrolled into Mccann!!!!
