New Kind Of Future - Desktop
In a presentation in Dublin, Ireland in March 2010, Google sales chief Jim Haley stated that desktops would be irrelevant in three years (SiliconRepublic.com). Smartphones, notebooks, and the amount of information available online will converge to create a different kind of future than what we’ve known, according to Haley. Do you agree? Why or why not? What impact would that have on the types of hardware and software that are the most in demand?
I disagree with the new kind of future. The world have been using desktops, smartphones and notebooks for years. You have certain type of businesses that rely on these different types of software an hardware on a day to day bases. Businesses have paid ex amount of dollars to have these hardware and software put into their business along with someone creating new programs to work with the software and/or hardware. I feel this would not be a good idea until all have been worked on to see how it would benefit the world before just throwing it out there. Businesses and Schools are not going to want to take this change for the new kind of future until they all know it works and it will benefit them in the long run. Trying something new like this can be good but also be crucial to any business if not functioning well.
